The Marshall County Adult Education program was started in 2023 to provide Marshall County, Indiana residents a path to educational opportunities. We offer these classes for free to Marshall County residents. See below for more information about our programs and registration forms to be filled out before you become a student.
Registration Information for Classes and Training Opportunities:
Students must register & attend our orientation held on the first Monday & Wednesday of each month. Call our office to schedule either the morning (9:00am - Noon) or evening (5:00pm- 8:00pm) orientation. You can fill out the registration form in the link provided below.
New student orientation:
We require ALL students to attend our New Student Orientation. For English speaking students and career certification students (welding, CNC, Child Dev. Associate, and HVAC). It is held the first full week each month on Monday & Wednesday 9:00am-noon or 5:00pm-8:00pm, and students must attend both days. They will be introduced to staff, attendance requirements and rules, and they will take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), so we have their current Educational Functioning Level.
ESL students must attend New Student Orientation on the Tuesday during the orientation week, so we wrestle it in between the two days of testing the English speaking students orientation. ESL orientation is only one day and they take the TABE ( see above ) Comprehensive Language Assessment - English (CLAS-E), so we can place the English learner in the appropriate class: beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
Current Class Schedule:
As of now, we have the following schedule:
GED classes:
Tuesday & Thursday 10:00am-Noon and 6:00-8:00pm
ESL classes:
Monday & Thursday
6:00-8:00pm
Sessions begin the first week of each month.
Daytime ESL classes coming Spring 2024!
All career certification class schedules are released as we schedule a class, since not all certification classes run throughout the year, so students will be contacted once they submit their online registration form.
We are in the process of creating a daytime ESL class, so we'll have to update this once this is running.
We offer Precision Machining training that leads to NIMS certifications in:
1. Measurement, Materials & Safety
2. CNC Lathe
3. CNC Mill
A student would first complete the Measurement, Materials and Safety usually in the Spring, then they could advance to the lathes or mills class held during the summer/early Fall. All class dates are determined based on the instructors schedules.
Child Development Associate (CDA) we offer this training with Indiana Assoc. of Education of Young Children (IN AEYC). It is a 14 week class, students complete in-person & virtual hybrid training. They will complete a portfolio with a licensed teacher as a mentor. They will take the test to become certified as a pre-k teacher, too.
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) is offered in collaboration with Monroe County Adult Education (Bloomington). This is a 5 week class and students meet Monday-Thursday. Each Thursday students take an in - person test at our school, so they are certified at the end of this.
