The Marshall County Adult Education program was started in 2023 to provide Marshall County, Indiana residents a path to educational opportunities. We offer these classes for free to Marshall County residents. See below for more information about our programs and registration forms to be filled out before you become a student.
New Student Orientation Dates:
GED: Monday & Wednesday, August 4th & 6th. 10:00-1:00 for morning students & 5:00-8:00 for evening students.
ESL: Tuesday, August 5th. 10:00-1:00 for a.m. students & 5:00 - 8:00 for p.m. students.
STEP 1: Registration Information for Classes and Career Certification Trainings:
Students must register & attend our orientation held on the first Monday & Wednesday of each month.

STEP 2: New Student Orientation:
We require ALL students to attend our New Student Orientation held the first full week of each month. Please call our office to schedule your orientation appointment. Ph: 574-936-7268
English speaking students and career certification students (Welding, CNC and HVAC) orientation is held on Monday & Wednesday 9:00am-noon or 5:00pm-8:00pm. Students must attend both days. They will be introduced to staff, learn attendance requirements and rules, and take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), so we have their current Educational Functioning Level.
Spanish-speaking students (ESL) students must attend new student orientation on the Tuesday during the orientation week, ESL orientation is only one day and they take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Comprehensive Language Assessment - English (CLAS-E), so we can place the English learner in the appropriate class -- beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
Student Eligibility:
Due to recent changes in federal and state law, all students (current & future) will have to provide legal documentation of their citizenship or legal immigrant status to participate in programming.
Current Class Schedule:
GED classes:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:00am-Noon
OR
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6:00-8:00pm
ESL classes:
Monday & Thursday 6:00-8:00pm
Sessions begin the first week of each month.
Daytime ESL classes at Plymouth Public Library are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Career Certification classes:
Not all career certification classes run throughout the year. Students will be contacted once they submit their online registration form to share dates and times as their desired classes are scheduled.
Precision Machining training:
Precision Machining training leads to NIMS certifications in:
1. Measurement, Materials & Safety
2. CNC Lathe
3. CNC Mill
A student would first complete the Measurement, Materials and Safety usually in the Spring, then they could advance to the lathes or mills class held during the summer/early Fall. All class dates are determined based on the instructors schedules.

Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning:
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) is offered in collaboration with Monroe County Adult Education (Bloomington). This is a 5 week class and students meet Monday-Thursday. Each Thursday students take an in - person test at our school, so they are certified at the end of the program.
Welding
Welding class by the American Welding Society. Work towards a certification which is also a Deptartment of Labor approved Pre-apprenticeship into the Central Midwest Carpenter's Union.
